Great experience! I said at the bar one night and at a table another night. Great service both times and the food is outstanding! I tried several appetizers and even dessert along with the main course and everything I tried was amazing. I highly recommend the deviled eggs Because if you like deviled eggs, these are a must try.
So amazingly beautiful. The dim warm lighting added a cozy feel. The decorations were beautiful and tastefully medieval inspired. It smelled amazing when we first walked in and we were immediately greeted and seated. Service was amazing! It was fast and efficient and our waitress made the process smooth and fast. We got two apps, the flatbread and the loaded deviled eggs. The devil eggs were creamy topped with smoky bacon and a pungent parm crisp. It was lovely! The filling was smooth and the smokiness of the bacon cut the richness of the filling. The parm added a wonderfully taste as well as added a interesting texture. The star of the apps was definitely the flatbread though. It was a soft bread with a sweetness chili based topped with bacon, peppers, and onions! It was delicious! The sweetness paired with the bacon was brilliant! I got the shrimp pasta! The sauce was beautiful and the shrimp were juicy and cooked perfectly. The wine was cooked off wonderfully leaving just a hint of flavor with none of the bitterness. The burger was juicy and the cheese was wonderfully meaty. The bun was fresh and bouncy. The veg were fresh and while we weren't ask how we wanted the meat cooked (my sister is very picky) it was cooked to her liking. The least strongest dish was the schnitzel. The meat was crispy, but honestly lacked flavor. The potatoes were also mashed with chucks which I just don't prefer and it also has skin still SO...
I had the mixed green salad with candied walnuts, pear (julienned which was a delicious way to include a fruit) red onions and gorgonzola. I changed my dressing to blue cheese on the side and never used it, the salad was perfect as is. Added medium rare steak and that was a perfect addition. Appetizer of deviled eggs which were the perfect start to my last dinner in Spokane as i.travel the Pacific Northwest on to Yellowstone, Tetons and surrounds! (Oops, forgot the side of tater tots and they added a delicious crunch to my meal)
I almost skipped Gilded Unicorn because of some rough online reviews claiming poor service and being ignored. Honestly? That wasn’t our experience at all. It was a packed Friday night, and our table along with the ones around us was fully taken care of. Service was attentive, food came out in a reasonable time, and the atmosphere never felt rushed or neglected. Always glad when a place proves the comments wrong. Food was amazing. Atmosphere was on point. My only issue is that unless you do a Google search & find their Facebook post, it isn't clear that there is an elevator available. I didn't know & used the stairs despite by disability. A sign or something at the top of the stairs would be useful.
OMG, this place is such an experience. If you like magical environments and unicorns, this place is for you. It is located underground and it feels like you are in a pub of a castle. The food came relatively quick. When I tell you the presentation of the food was beautiful, I can't express it enough. Now, the taste, was otherworldly. Their deviled eggs are a MUST TRY and their baked Mac is PERFECT. The chopped cobb salad was super fresh. We also got an old fashioned and, my sister as a self proclaimed alcohol enthusiast, said it was good, but the alcohol itself wasn't. Tho it was cute so it was worth it. Overall I WILL be coming back!
Downstairs and cozy seems to be a good description. Nice variety of options but not a huge menu. We split a dinner salad (big) and I had gnocchi and my wife had the chicken shnitzel. Both were excellent and plentiful. We both took boxes. The gnocchi would blend awesome with a half chicken shnitzel on top! Next time. We've also had the pan crusted fish which is a winner as well. Stay at the Montvale and make it a getaway like we did!
This is a place to enjoy your company and have a leisurely meal, if you are rushing or have bad company i definitely don’t recommend this establishment. It’s a beautiful building with warm lighting that is so inviting, the music threw me off a bit though I must admit, a bit loud and more pop than expected (doja cat was being played when we were seated). Our server was incredibly friendly and on top of things, he apologized for the wait time on my meal. We started with the deviled eggs and side of tots. Tots was a huge serving we didn’t even finish, but it had amazing fry sauce. Deviled eggs were good and extremely large(you get 4 eggs total), would like them to be a bit more spicy.I ordered their pork chop(30ish$) with mashed potatoes and veggies and my partner had the white fish(20ish$). My pork chop was huuuuuge nice and thick so I didn’t mind at all about waiting. The meal overall was amazing! Perfectly seasoned pork chop and a creamy mashed potatoes were to die for, the veggies weren’t for me charred yet cold. My partner overall enjoyed the fish. We had 4 alcoholic drinks and 1 non alcoholic drink. Solid strong drinks that felt price appropriate( at least ~15$ a drink). At the end of the day our bill was about 145$ without tip. I really enjoyed it and will be bringing some friends next time
